Jakarta Capital Special Region (DKI Jakarta) is the capital of Indonesia which continues to organize itself to become an international-standard megapolitancity. A modern and bustling city, it consists of five administrative towns and the Thousand Islands Regency – an archipelago off the North coast of Jakarta. Jakarta is a huge, sprawling metropolis, home to over 10 million people with diverse ethnic group background from all over Indonesia. Located on the northwest of Java Island, the province of DKI Jakarta has rapidly expanded through the years, absorbing many villages in the process. As the Capital City, Jakarta is a melting pot of representatives from each of these ethnic groups.
With the tag line “ENJOY JAKARTA”, Jakarta welcomes all international events and international event participants with quality facilities ranging from Convention Halls and Exhibition Halls supported by hundreds of star hotels scattered throughout Jakarta. Jakarta also offers cultural experience through its old town cultural heritage, museums, galleries, and traditional markets.
Jakarta can be accessed from five continents and major cities in almost every country. The conference site can be accessed from the Soekarno Hatta International Airport by airport trains, airport buses, and taxies.
Although Jakarta has been notorious as a city with some of the worst traffic jams, the city is doing much effort to tackle this issue. In 2019, a new mode of transportionMass Rapid Transportation (MRT) is start operating and Light Rapid Transportation (LRT) will soon start operating in 2020. The MRT and LRT will complement the already available Trans Jakarta buses operating almost 24 hours and serving more than 30 corridors, and Commuter Line trains with its extensive routes from neighboring towns such as Bogor and Bekasi to the center of the capital. Quality and premium taxis as well as peer-to-peer ridesharing is also widely accessible to all international visitors.
